A FAMILY FARM

Two year old Addison helps her grandpa Scott sort freshly picked cranberries.

Scott and Carol McKenzie and their five children farm for the future.

The McKenzie family has been farming and ranching near Cape Blanco

since 1870. Scott's great grandfather purchased the land where the family

lives, raises sheep and cattle, and – since 1996 – farms cranberries in bogs

built by Scott, Carol and their children. The desire to maintain an economically

viable operation, not only for themselves but for future generations, drives

the McKenzies' approach to farming. Of equal importance is their goal of

minimizing any negative impact that their cranberry farming might have on

their surrounding environment, which includes recreation lands and wildlife

habitat.
